A Brief History Of Mind

TV was my first drug of choice in the South Bronx of America. It led to a real drug called Saint Joseph's Orange Favored Aspirin For Children. I popped a dozen in the hopes of becoming The Boy of Steel. I got tired of waiting for Super Man.I had another strange dream. I dreamt of a city bronzed by afternoon shadows and endless blue skies of majestic white clouds that would never give in to the nature of the beast. Looking around at tranquil streets and airy buildings, I sensed life everywhere but it was invisible like a parallel universe of happy children in a game of hide and seek. With feet dragging in no direction in mind, I carried a trash bag in one hand and a cardboard box in the other. My heart leaped when I saw my bike riding itself with the motion of a satellite in orbit. How I longed to travel light. However, I hesitated to drop a burden to chase after my freedom. I woke up with a sense of opportunities lost. As the dream faded, I drifted to the next room and saw my bike. It took me for a spin in perfect riding weather. With the winds on my back, I wondered what was inside the bag? Perhaps it was the head of the mythological Medusa. What was inside the box? Perhaps it was a record of how many times I turned to stone and crumbled to regrets. I had a dream of a city that never sleeps that nudged me to an alternate ending of no burnt tomorrows. Alongside kindred spirits, I ached to break the sound barrier with words to see a new reality. I pedaled faster to a garden by the waves of the East River as the sun fell to Earth in shades of autumn gold. I viewed my last living mural kissed by dreams and many happy returns.
This is Earth where Hope Springs Eternal for the young at heart; a private country club any color with a vision can join. This is the height of humanity: no more waiting for Super Man. You're ready to fly. Why kids of all ages love the NYPL.I just love community service, don't you? What's a book doing here? OK! Tag along just don't embarass us!You let one book in they all want to come in! This Star Trek book was brought for me as a gift at a library book sale by my Godson Sebastian who wanted to surprise me. After 9/11, I rebuilt His family home where he could draw pictures of the future. We both share the same date of arrival as does this Newsweek magazine. He's thoughtful of others. So much like me.
