On the first day of school, our teacher gave us homework to create tour books for our towns. For the time being, we had to introduce ourselves and point out one or two exciting and wonderful sights for tourists to see and enjoy.
Everyone applauded after the brief presentations made by well to do students from around the world. At my turn, I stood up and said my tour book is on The South Bronx.
I smiled.
The teacher turned pale face and almost tripped over her feet as she backed away. I sat down to dead silence. Then a rich student from Switzerland quietly got up and moved to another seat. No joke. I’m not making this up. This really happened.
I had a marketing problem.
“It ain’t as bad as you think. Things will look better in the morning,” said Colin Powell.
He’s so right. I figured out what to do. It was child’s play.
So simple a solution it was sheer super genius.
Get a transfer out of class.
